1. Korup National Park (4days)

About 425 bird species have been recorded in Korup. With quite a lot of lowland forest bird species, its greatest assert is the grey-necked rock fowl or Pickatartes which attracts bird watchers from around the globe. Other birding attractions include black dwarf, white crested hornbill, guinea fowl, black and yellow casqued, first Robin, Blue throated Roller, red-vented wood house Antpecker, etc. The park has other attractions beyond birds as its animal and plant life is unequalled in Africa.

 

2. Kupe Mountain. (4 days)

Said to be the world’s rarest shrike, the mount Kupe bush is said to have been seen just twice between 1949 – 1989. It is however considered critically threatened. This mountain offers the SERL’S and green-breasted bushrike, green long tail, Ursula sunbird, and white throated babbler. To glimpse these endemic species trail on Mt. Kupe above Nyasoso and the Bakossi forest.

 

3. Bird watching in Buea and Limbe (4 days)

Offering the highest point in West and Central Africa, Buea (Fako) Mountain has a catalogue of forest birds including the Mt. Cameroon Francolin, Cameroon speriop found nowhere else in the world. The Mountain sawing, white-tailed warbler, the brown backed cisticola, Cameroon pipit and Bats weavers happen to be endemic. Ursula’s sunbird, yellow long bill, etc.
In limbe, the botanic garden, located in the heart of the beach town of Limbe harbors wide and interesting specie of birds. Going through the village of Mapanja, one would encounter among others the African blue-headed sunbird, etc.

 

4. The Bamenda highlands (4 days)

In spite of its cultural attraction to thousand of tourist in the country, this area can equally be considered abode for several endemic birds. Two of such come to prominence: Bannerman’s turaco, Banded wattle-eye and the near endemic Bannerman’s weaver. These can be found near Lake Awing. Other species include the grey-chested Illadopsis, black collared apalis, yellow-brested and mountain boubou, etc.
Birding could equally be interesting in Mt. Oku and the Kilum Mountain forest project.

Selecting a choice of any 2 sites from the above list will make an 8 day tour package. However, an entire trip covering all 4 sites (South Birding) could be arranged giving a 16 nights (17 days) tour package
